About Bytown Rugby Foundation
The Bytown Rugby Foundation is a not-for-profit organization, and has within its mandate the ability to create endowed funds or scholarship funds to promote and support rugby activities, including but not limited to, players, clubs, coaches, referees and rugby organizations.

Blues

Formed after the end of the 1971 season, the Bytown Blues Rugby Football Club have been representing the rugby community proudly over the past 42 years, on and off the pitch. Upcoming seasons will be no different.

With three senior men’s squads and a full junior program, the Blues have a full summer schedule and a place for any and all of those that are interested.

George Fortier
Scholarship

George Fortier (1949-2016) was an avid supporter of the sport of rugby. Although never having played the game George volunteered with several rugby organizations as a manager and on their Board of Directors. He spent countless hours working for the players on the field.

Grants

Applicants must be a current student (high school or lower) registering to play for any Rugby Club and who requires financial assistance in order to register. Those who receive a grant will have their club dues paid to the club by the Foundation for one year.

Scholarships

This award is awarded annually to a graduating high school student. The nominated student will have been involved with their school rugby program either as a volunteer or a player who has, like George made a valuable contribution to the rugby program.
